Gus & Jen36 viewsGus was kind enough to donate his baby soft fur to be spun and knit into this beautiful journal cover. The journal cover is constructed of three fibers - 100% St. Bernard hair (light brown/white) and 85% wool/15% mohair (dark brown). I had only a small skein of dog hair yarn so I decided to knit a journal cover for Gus's owners.

Milkweed_006.jpg
75 viewsThis entry is a hand-woven scarf designed by Nancy and Sheila of cotton and native milkweed fiber. The warp is commercial crochet cotton having a shiny surface that contrasts with the handspun texture of the milkweed/cotton weft. The milkweed was harvested along the Snake River in Idaho. The dried stalks were peeled, and the peelings were boiled in lye. The raw milkweed fiber was then carded with organic white and green cotton. A woven lace pattern was selected for the Milkweed Scarf.Jan 17, 2010
